Christmas is one of my favourite times of the year to photograph families. There is something about the cosy warmth, the soft glow of fairy lights, and the excitement on children’s faces that makes this season feel truly magical. This year I wanted to create a Christmas photography set that felt like stepping into a storybook. Something warm, inviting, and full of charm. A place where families could relax, have fun, and make memories together.
Today I am taking you behind the scenes and sharing how I created my Christmas set for my Christmas Mini Sessions in Warwickshire and Coventry.
Creating a Cosy Christmas Kitchen
When I first started planning the set, I pictured a Christmas kitchen filled with warmth. I wanted it to feel like the heart of the home on Christmas Eve. A place where families bake biscuits, sip hot chocolate and enjoy simple little moments together. Since my photography style has a warm and moody feel with soft painterly tones, I built every detail around that idea.
The set includes rustic textures, traditional Christmas colours and lots of homely touches. I added festive baking props, christmas decorations and gentle fairy lights to bring everything to life. These elements help create Christmas photos that feel relaxed, authentic and full of emotion. Families do not just pose. They step into a scene.

A Space Made for Natural and Joyful Moments
One of the reasons my Christmas family photoshoots have been so special this year is because children love the set. They can explore, move around, pretend to bake and make the space their own. This helps create natural moments and real expressions.
Some of my favourite images include little hands covered in pretend flour, siblings giggling over a wooden spoon or a parent watching their child with that familiar look that says this moment will not last forever. These moments become the heart of a family Christmas session.
My aim for every photoshoot is to make families feel comfortable. I want your photos to feel warm, honest and full of connection. Outdoor Christmas photos can be beautiful too, but this cosy indoor space has brought a different kind of magic this year.
Why I Love Photographing Christmas Sessions
As a family photographer in Coventry and Warwickshire, winter sessions are something I look forward to. The light is soft and flattering. The colours are rich. The excitement of Christmas creates a beautiful atmosphere.
This set has been one of my favourites and I already have ideas for next year. If you love Christmas photoshoot inspiration, you will enjoy what I have planned for 2026!
