What to Wear for Your Autumn Photoshoot

Updated: Nov 7

Autumn has to be one of my favourite times of year for photos. The golden light, the soft tones, and those gorgeous crunchy leaves make every photo feel a little bit magical. Whether you’ve booked one of my autumn mini sessions or you’re planning a full family shoot, choosing the right outfit can really bring everything together.

Embrace the Beauty of Autumn

Here are a few simple tips to help you look and feel amazing in your photos:

1. Layer Up!

Autumn weather can be unpredictable, so layers are your best friend. They keep you cosy and add lovely texture to your photos. Think cardigans, jumpers, scarves, or even a nice jacket you can pop on and off.

2. Go for Warm, Natural Tones

Colours like rust, olive, mustard, cream, and deep burgundy work beautifully in the autumn light. They complement the scenery and help keep the focus on you and your family, not your clothes.

3. Mix Textures and Fabrics

Chunky knits, corduroy, denim, and wool photograph beautifully. Try pairing a floaty dress with boots and a knitted cardigan, or jeans with a cosy jumper... simple but timeless.

4. Coordinate, Don’t Match

If you’re coming as a family, pick two or three colours that go well together and spread them across everyone’s outfits. That way, you’ll look coordinated but still natural.

5. Think About Your Backdrop

If your shoot is taking place somewhere like Binley Woods or a local park, keep in mind that neutral, earthy tones will really pop against the greens and golds of autumn.

6. Add a Personal Touch

Little details like hats, scarves, or jewellery can really finish off your look. Just keep it simple so the focus stays on your faces and the lovely autumn light.

The Magic of Family Portraits

Capturing the essence of your family during this beautiful season is truly special. As the leaves change colour, so do the moments we share. Each photograph tells a story, preserving memories that will last a lifetime.

Creating Timeless Heirlooms

When you choose to have your family photographed, you are creating something that goes beyond just a picture. You are crafting a legacy. These portraits become cherished heirlooms that can be passed down through generations. Imagine your grandchildren looking at these images, feeling the love and connection that you shared.

The Experience of a Photoshoot

A photoshoot should be a joyful experience. It’s a time to connect, laugh, and enjoy each other’s company. I strive to create a relaxed atmosphere where everyone feels comfortable. This way, I can capture those genuine moments that reflect your family's unique bond.

The Importance of Connection

In every photograph, I aim to capture the connections that make your family special. Whether it's a shared laugh, a gentle touch, or a loving glance, these moments are what truly matter. They are the heart of your family story.

Autumn: A Season of Change

Autumn is a season of change. Just as the leaves transform, so do our lives. It’s a time for reflection and gratitude. As we gather with loved ones, let’s celebrate the beauty of these moments.

Preparing for Your Photoshoot

Before your photoshoot, take some time to think about what you want to capture. Are there specific locations that hold special meaning for your family? Do you have any favourite activities you enjoy together? Incorporating these elements can make your photos even more personal and meaningful.

Final Thoughts

As you prepare for your autumn photoshoot, remember to enjoy the process. Choose outfits that make you feel good, and don’t be afraid to express your family’s personality. Each photograph is a chance to tell your story, and I can’t wait to help you capture it.

If you're ready to create beautiful memories this autumn, let’s connect and start planning your session today!
